What a Secretagogue Blend Is

A secretagogue does not supply growth hormone. It acts on the pituitary to alter the body’s own release of it, which is a meaningfully different proposition to administering the hormone directly. That distinction is the whole reason this category exists.

Two receptor systems dominate the literature. Growth hormone releasing hormone analogues act on the GHRH receptor and increase the size of the natural pulse. Ghrelin mimetics act on the GHS receptor and increase pulse frequency while suppressing somatostatin. Blends generally pair one of each, because the two act through different routes and the combined effect in published work is larger than either alone.

The counter-argument to a blend is control. Once both are in one vial you cannot adjust the ratio, and the ratio is the interesting variable.

• Let the vial reach room temperature before you open it.
• Wipe the stopper with an alcohol swab and let it dry.
• Run the bacteriostatic water slowly down the inside wall of the vial rather than straight onto the powder.
• Swirl gently until clear. Do not shake.
• Label the vial with the date and the concentration. You will not remember it in three weeks.

Storage

Secretagogues are studied against measured hormone levels far more often than against outcomes people actually care about. Raising a pulse is not the same as changing body composition.
