What This Is

Topical gels in this category are used on specific areas before or after training. What they reliably do is produce a warming or tingling sensation and temporarily change how the skin and underlying tissue feel and look. They are a cosmetic product, and we are going to describe them as one.

How To Use It

Apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin on the area you are treating and massage it in until it is absorbed. Less is more with a gel like this, particularly the first time.

• Patch test first on a small area if your skin is easily provoked, and wait a day before covering a larger area.
• Wash your hands thoroughly afterwards. Every time.
• Keep it well away from your eyes, mouth, and any broken or irritated skin.
• Do not apply it under an occlusive wrap or tight clothing unless you want the sensation considerably stronger.
• Do not apply immediately before a hot shower.
• Stop if you get anything beyond mild warmth: rash, welts, burning or persistent redness mean it is not for you.

Who Should Leave It Alone

• Anyone with broken, sunburnt, shaved or irritated skin on the area.
• Anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, without checking first.
• Anyone under 18.
• Anyone with sensitive or reactive skin who has not patch tested.
• Anyone with a known allergy to anything on the ingredient list.

What It Will Not Do

It will not remove fat from underneath where you rub it. Spot reduction is not a thing that happens, whatever a product is called, and no gel changes where your body draws energy from. What it does is temporarily change how an area feels and looks. Buy it for that.

Storage

• Keep the tube capped, cool and out of direct sunlight.
• Do not leave it in a car or a gym bag in summer.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Do not use beyond the expiry date printed on the tube.
